Before Television, was Radio. Old Time Radio has a rich history in our country. Thanks to a movement to locate and restore the remaining (we’ve lost a lot!) series and episodes, Old Time Radio plus Your Imagination equals an entertainment experience. Unlike dead-head t.v., OTR does not trap you on the couch for hours at a time. Just start an episode, turn it up and do other things while your mind races through the mystery, suspense, adventure, comedy and so much more! There’s nothing like a trip in the car with our cassettes and audio cds to cause the road time to fly by.
Literally thousands of families in the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, at a set time in the evening, would excitedly gather around a radio much like the one shown here. Dad would warm up the radio (it took a while back then) as the family anxiously awaited the event that would stir their imaginations with mystery, suspense, intrigue, comedy and other programs coming over the airwaves and into their homes. Today, many of these recordings, a precious piece of American history have been lost forever. However, through a national effort of both traditional restorative and current day electronic expertise, the remaining recordings, as they are still being found, are being restored to the best quality possible. Some, still scratchy but worth the irritation to enjoy a part of our country’s great history. |

Under one of these subheadings, it’s a good idea to list recent updates to my site so that visitors, especially return visitors, can check out the new stuff first. For example, I could list the date and a brief description of the update:
7/16/00 Added pictures of my vacation to the Photo page.
6/25/00 Updated the team schedule for the fall 200 season.
5/30/00 Added information about a new product my business offers.
I could also list updated news about my site’s topic. For example, if my site were about a particular sport, I’d could discuss the outcome of a recent competition. |

Notifying Visitors of Site Enhancements
Another idea for my home page’s text is notifying visitors about the enhancements I put on my site. For example, I want visitors to sign my guestbook or fill out my survey Form E-mailer to answer questions about my site, my business, or my site’s topic.

I might not want a large amount of text on my home page if I want to guide visitors toward my other pages. Instead of text, I can add others’ buttons to this first page, and I’ll be rewarded for people who click on the buttons. For example, if a visitor signs up for a Visa using the NextCard button on my site, I earn at least ! |
